Developmental Edits
Looking for feedback on your manuscript or support in your writing?
A developmental edit is an in-depth evaluation of your manuscript’s structure and content. It addresses key elements such as:
- Character Development: Are the characters well-developed and compelling?
- Story Arc: Does the story have a clear rise and fall? Is there a climax and resolution?
- Dialogue: Is the dialogue convincing and true to the characters?
- Scene Analysis: Are there scenes that aren’t needed or are under-developed?
Why a book coach?
I love reading, don’t you? But despite reading hundreds of books, writing one is a completely different experience.
Gone are the days of your editor reading new pages and giving comments as you write. Today, the market expects you to do everything yourself and present a perfect manuscript, ready to publish! But creatives don’t always work well alone, and writing can be hard.
A book coach provides the feedback classical writers received from their editors. A good book coach ensures your story includes all the essential elements of a great narrative, such as:
- Well-Developed Story Arc
- Robust Characters
- Convincing Dialogue
- Well-developed Setting That Fits the Story
- Convincing Climax and Ending
- Good Tension
- A Plot That Moves the Story Forward
- Consistent Pacing

Kat really took the time to go through everything in thorough detail and was refreshingly honest about the parts that needed more work. She was also generous enough to work with me over the reworked sections, as well as the original manuscript I sent her. My final draft is so much better for her input and the guidance she gave me has stayed with me into further things I’m working on. If you have reached the stage where you feel like you’ve done all you can but it’s still not quite ready to push over the line, I cannot recommend Kat enough. I feel extremely lucky and privileged to have had the benefit of her wisdom and experience.

How to Get Started?
Fill in the form by clicking the button below. If it’s a genre I know I can be of help with, I’ll get back to you ASAP. If it’s not a genre I can help with, I’ll let you know.
Please Note: I don’t read horror or novels with gratuitous violence/sexual assault against children. I enjoy mysteries and thrillers as long as the violence isn’t there for violence’s sake.
