Why not wait to buy it on Amazon?

A few readers have told me they will buy the Bended Duology when it gets to Amazon.

There is NOTHING wrong with that, but I want to clear up a few misconceptions.

1. The Bended Duology will not be out until Fall of 2024 so the Kickstarter is your chance to get early, EXCLUSIVE copies. These books will contain the prequel, the recipe book and a special Thank You page with each backer’s name on it (unless you opt out) all in the book. I will not be putting these into the Amazon book. Readers will have to get the prequel separately and the recipe booklet will only be available directly through me.

2. While there is nothing wrong with buying from Amazon (I do it all the time!) the winner in that scenario is Amazon. By buying directly from me through Kickstarter you are helping me continue to build my book business.

3. Since I publish wide, I’m not in KU which means my pricing for the ebook will be the same when it gets to Amazon. Each book in the Bended Duology will be priced at $4.99 when they go live in the Fall.

The print prices are somewhat dictated by Amazon. They first take out what it costs to print the book (normal), then they take their cut of profit and for me using their platform and usually leave me with $1-3. Even when priced at $18 (the base price at Amazon depends on how many pages the book has. Meaning, they force a minimum on you in order for them to recoup the printing price and their cut).

4. The shipping on my Kickstarter campaign is INCLUDED. And, as stated above, buying directly from me supports my business. Buying directly from a bigger store mostly supports that business.

Is Kickstarter safe for my credit card?

Yes!

They handle hundreds of millions of dollars every year for small businesses. They use Stripe which is a credit card processor that MANY internet businesses use. It is their reputation on the line so they keep credit card information very secure.

That is also why NO CARD IS CHARGED UNTIL THE CAMPAIGN ENDS.

You will get a day to add on items if you choose and then you are notified when the card is charged. There are no secrets. No hidden fees. Exactly what you sign on to pledge, is what is charged. I pay for the credit card fees and the fee to Kickstarter. Those are not added to your bill.

It’s essentially a “pre-order”

If you’ve ever pre-ordered a book from Amazon, think of the “pledge” as they call it on Kickstarter as the same thing. You are “pledging” to pay for this item (in this case a book) at a set date (for my campaign it will be after March 26, which is the last day of the campaign). Once the campaign ends and the credit cards are charged, I am OBLIGATED to send you the book. (Which I want to do!)

Below is a snapshot of the bottom of a pledge. You click on the green button to preorder the ebook and from that point on I am obligated to send you the ebook once the campaign has ended and the credit cards are charged.

I hope I’ve answered all the questions. If you have more, please feel free to reply to this email. It goes directly to my inbox.

There are only two weeks left to the Kickstarter so be sure to “preorder” your copy, ebook or paperback, today!
